Captain John Pankov - Captain of the Pegasus' Rapture. He is descended from Russian Gypsies but grew up in England. He was hired to transport Daphne and her team to Brazil.
Dr. Smythe - A linguistics expert at the British Museum who is helping Daphne in her research.
Miss O'Connor - Daphne's assistant, working on her graduate thesis in anthropology and helping Daphne in her research.
Dr. Manton - An archaeologist at the British Museum who is helping Daphne in her research.
Miss Rose James - First mate on the Pegasus' Rapture, she and the Captain have a long history.
Mr. Roger Higgs - Engineer on the Pegasus' Rapture.
Mr. Thomas Wimble - Assistant engineer on the Pegasus' Rapture.

Mr. Anderson - A London solicitor who helped Daphne arrange her expedition.
Lord Harrison - An explorer who encountered the Yanomami people in Brazil and is now a respected member of the Royal Science and Exploration Society.
Mr. Diogo Silveira - A young man who was hired in Rio De Janeiro to guide Daphne and her team into the Amazon.
Mr. Wayling - Lord Harrison's assistant, who still lives with the Yanomami and studies them.
